School-Based Mentoring

As a classroom aide, 2012-2016, with St. Gabriel School I oversaw their literacy and language arts programming for grades 4 & five. This included conducting skill assessments with each child and developing a literacy plan based on their interests and goals.

While working at Kaiser Permanente of Ohio as a Public Affairs Coordinator, I served as the liaison for the School-Based mentoring program with the Cleveland Public Schools. Each week, employees from Kaiser Permanente would tutor/mentor students at Orchard Elementary after school. I was responsible for coordinating the program volunteers and monitoring the goal-based outcomes for each student.

From 2008-2010, I worked with the Lake County YMCA to deliver swim, gymnastics and family yoga classes to the community. I was proud to be able to support the vital work of the YMCA in providing social, educational and developmental programming.

To increase access and exposure to the arts, I chaired the Arts Programming at St. Gabriel school from 2010-2015. I created four full-day sessions for grades K-8 each year, coordinating visiting artists and aligning topics with existing curriculum. Students experienced everything Zydeco to Modern Dance to Puppetry to Aerial Arts. Through networks in Lake County and beyond I was able to deliver a dynamic, inclusive program for students and families.
